with much thanks

i woke up this morning to the happy sound of rain on my window, a clean apartment desperately clinging to the smell of turkey, and memories of a fantastic day spent with friends in boston.  now, with a day to myself that is dedicated solely to reading, writing, and listening to {christmas} music, i can’t help but put together a short list of thanks:

for mit minds that like to organize and sweep,

for old friends and past roommates who provide encouraging words of hope when parts of the turkey seem to not be wholly thawed

for naps between bastings and the promise of a snuggie and glass of champagne {that mike so graciously poured} when I awake

for confidence in the kitchen and affirming words

and for the friends that bring interesting conversation and laughter to my life.
