cruise wear

a few nights ago, i had an out-of-the-blue dream about an old friend.  i woke up and thought it was real.  it wasn’t.  i wanted to call my friend and exclaim “i had a dream about you last night!” or perhaps, more mysteriously, send a message or wall post via facebook.  i refrained, mainly because the conversation would have been awkward and not really an amusing dream to tell and would have ended with me pretending to find twenty dollars.

over drinks last night, i related to my friend, erin, about this dilemma.  why always the inexplicable desire to tell people when they pop up in dreams?  her response: “whenever i've made an appearance in someone's dream, my first question is always, ‘what was I wearing?’ i just gotta know!”

this got the cogs spinning.  whenever someone tells me that i was in his or her dream, my go to question is “was it a good dream or a bad dream?” sensible, yes.  interesting? no.  after erin bestowed this gem of wisdom upon me, i thought “yes! yes that is the perfect follow up question!” a  fist pump may have been incorporated.

so from now on, i will only be donning cruise wear when i frequent other peoples’ dreams.  if someone wants to have a franny sighting in their dream, i better be rocking the nautical, effortless "i'm on my way to sail around the bay on my yacht" look.  spread the word.  and if for some reason i see you in the near future and you had a dream about me and i was not decked out head to toe in cruise wear, please lie to me and tell me that i was.

{above is an example of 'cruise wear'.  i spent about an hour trying to find a suitable example, none were found.  imagine this outfit with significantly more red, white and blue as well as ridiculous gold accents everywhere.  nautical scarves.  rope.  i think you get the idea}

  1. beware, the cruise-wear [or more aptly yacht-wear] you suggest. it is a slippery slope to the infamous cruise-wear/vacation-wear/tommybahama-wear oft seen on women over 45 attempting to hide severe muffin tops with flowy scoop necked frocks. see also: stevie nicks [but with more pastels or tropical prints]
